Possession of a controlled substance—July 1, 5:35 a.m., 300 block of Shirley Avenue. Officers looking for a man saw another man peeking out of the back window of the residence they were searching. When the man in the window emerged three minutes later, he was searched and a bulbous glass smoking pipe was found. He was arrested and taken to Department of Public Safety headquarters.
Fireworks—July 1, 1:20 a.m., Hazleton Avenue. While patrolling near Bayview and Hazleton, an officer in a marked squad car saw an adult male throw a lighted firework into the street. He contacted the man and two of his acquaintances and cited and released the man who had thrown the firework.
Possession of drug paraphernalia—June 29, 9:52 p.m., El Camino Real and Mary Avenue. Responding to reports of an assault, officers contacted a woman and were given consent to search her backpack. During the search, one of the officers found two bulbous glass smoking pipes containing an unusable amount of white residue that tested presumptive positive for amphetamines. She was cited and released on the scene.
Automobile burglary—June 29, 4 p.m., 900 block of Weddell Drive. An unknown person broke the passenger's side window of a car and removed $150 in personal items from the car, including a briefcase, day planner and miscellaneous paperwork.
