Possession of a controlled substance—July 9, 3:35 a.m., 1000 block of Tasman Drive. Officers stopped a driver leaving an apartment complex. The driver identified himself and allowed officers to search his vehicle, where they found .5 grams of methamphetamines and a bulbous glass smoking pipe. The officers determined that the driver was under the influence of a controlled substance. He was arrested and a blood sample was taken.
Automobile burglary—July 9, 3:35 a.m., 1000 block of Tasman Drive. A man called the police after hearing his car alarm go off, followed by the sound of a car speeding away. He found the driver's side window of his car smashed but said nothing was missing from the vehicle.
Battery—July 8, 5:15 p.m., 800 block of W. Ahwanee Avenue. At a motel, a man and woman got into a verbal argument that quickly escalated. The man backhanded the woman in the nose and then choked her. The disturbance continued into their room, where the man again choked the woman and forcefully prevented her from leaving the room. The man then took the woman's wallet out of her hands by force, but officers returned it to her later.
Under the influence of a controlled substance—July 8, 2:03 a.m., 200 block of W. California Avenue. Officers responded to a call of two men exposing themselves in a park. When contacted, one of the men admitted to using methamphetamines earlier in the night. He was found to be under the influence.
