Public Safety
The following incidents were compiled from the log at the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety.
Possession of a controlled substance—July 23, 9:13 p.m., 900 block of Henderson Avenue. Officers searching a house found a hypodermic kit and marijuana. During a search of the residents, a loaded syringe was found and its contents tested positive for methamphetamines.

Armed robbery—July 22, 11:45 p.m., 700 block of N. Mathilda Avenue. Two unidentified men entered a gas station and grabbed the clerk. The first man was armed with a small black handgun. They asked him to open the register, and when he didn't, the first man punched the register. The second man then took $75 from a drawer below the register.

Possession of marijuana—July 22, 4:12 p.m., Tasman Drive and Fair Oaks Avenue. A man was reported walking on the center median, pointing a paper bag at passing vehicles. Officers contacted him in a parked bus and asked to search the bag. He consented, and they found a smaller paper bag inside with a pipe and a baggie of marijuana. The man was cited and released, and the marijuana and pipe were taken to department of public safety headquarters.

Commercial burglary—July 22, 3:31 p.m., 500 block of S. Murphy Avenue. Officers contacted occupants in a vehicle parked in front of an auto-parts store. In their car they had a printer/scanner, a roll of receipt paper, copied receipts and several packaged auto parts. The occupants allegedly intended to use the copied receipts to return the parts for cash.
