Possession of a controlled substance—Aug. 7, 7:31 p.m., 200 block of Poinciana Drive. A man was contacted and tested for drugs by officers. He was found to be under the influence of a controlled substance. A search revealed .2 grams of amphetamines and a glass bulbous pipe with residue in it. He was arrested and transported to county jail.
Commercial burglary—Aug. 5, 7:19 p.m., 200 block of W. Washington Avenue. Two sisters entered a department store with a pair of shears and used them to cut sensor tags off clothing while in the dressing room. They then placed the items in a bag and attempted to leave the store. They were stopped by personnel, cited by police and released to their uncle.
Passing worthless checks—Aug. 5, 3 p.m., 600 block of N. Fair Oaks Avenue. A man tried to cash a check from a company using a false name and an expired account number. He fled the scene when he was discovered, but left the check behind along with his driver's license.
Petty theft—Aug. 5, 10:30 a.m., 600 block of S. Bernardo Avenue. A hungry woman without any money entered a supermarket and stuffed a bagel, bagel spread, a donut and a Diet Pepsi into her purse and tried to leave without paying. Officers responded and the woman was cited and released after promising to appear in court.
