Burglar may be one doing rash of crimes
By Jason Goldman-Hall
On New Year's Eve, a man surprised a resident as he broke into her house. Sunnyvale investigators say this was just one of a rash of similar crimes on Sunnyvale's south side.

The man fled on foot after he was discovered by residents. He was last seen wearing a blue jacket.

The Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety has released a sketch of the man, described as approximately 40 years old, white, with a medium build, short hair and a receding hairline.

The burglary took place in the 1600 block of Kintyre Way. Burglaries in this area have typically occurred during daylight hours, and only small items have been taken.

No one has been harmed in any of the crimes.

In response to the burglaries, the city of Sunnyvale urges residents to keep a watch on their neighborhood and report suspicious people, vehicles or activities. If something suspicious is found, residents should immediately call 911 from a home phone or 408.730.7180 from a cell phone and report the incident, including license plate numbers and descriptions of people and vehicles.

Residents who think they can identify the suspect or who have information on the burglaries should call the department of public safety's investigations unit at 408.730.7110.
