Public Safety
The following incidents were compiled from the log at the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety.
Theft--Feb. 18, 11:38 a.m., 1200 block of S. Wolfe Road. A man pretended to fall inside a store, and when the clerk went to help him, another person went behind the register and stole some cash.

Grand theft--Feb. 17, 4:15 p.m., 1100 block of Sonoma Court. A laptop computer belonging to the chief financial officer of a company was stolen from an office.

Request for help--Feb. 17, 9:02 a.m., 1000 block of Tasman Drive. A man called the department of public safety from a pay phone saying he had some type of sores on his hands, was exhausted and needed an ambulance.

Identity theft--Feb. 16, 4:32 p.m., 400 block of Bryan Avenue. A man tried to open a bank account and was informed that someone had already opened an unauthorized account using his personal information. He got a copy of his credit report and found two cases of fraud.

Trespassing--Feb. 16, 1:27 p.m., 500 block of E. Ahwanee Avenue. An unknown person broke into a mobile home and set up camp there. No one is in the home now, but there is a briefcase full of IDs, checks and credit cards left behind by the person.

Identity theft--Feb. 15, 6 p.m., 200 block of Bartlett Avenue. A woman received a letter from a collection agency stating that a cell phone account was opened without authorization in her name.

Auto burglary--Feb. 14, 8:42 a.m., 1600 block Ontario Drive. A woman's vehicle was broken into during the night. Someone entered her Honda Civic and removed a CD player from the trunk.
