Residents want to know
what's holding up project
I noticed that the downtown development hasn't progressed beyond the original plans to start demolition in January or February.
I think it would be a great service to the residents of Sunnyvale if the paper attempts to provide a weekly report on the status of the downtown development, just to satisfy our curiosity on what's happening or why it's not happening.
I think there are also concerns of nearby residents that should be addressed in anticipation of the upcoming demolition. For example, what precautions should people take when demolition begins? Will our gardens be coated with construction/rubble dust?
Is there asbestos in the parking structures and malls? If so, how will their distribution be controlled? Have merchants already signed up for the new structures? Who are they?
People really want to know these answers.
