Two accidents leave one dead, one injured
By Jason Goldman-Hall
Two traffic accidents on Oct. 11 in different parts of Sunnyvale left one person dead and one with minor injuries.

The first occurred in the morning.

The Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety is looking for the driver of the light-colored 2004 or 2005 Toyota sedan that struck a bicyclist on Mary Avenue at Central Expressway before 7 a.m.

The driver--described as an Asian woman with dark, shoulder-length hair, possibly wearing classes--fled the scene. The bicyclist was injured and taken to a hospital, but his injuries were not life threatening.

Witnesses say the car sustained moderate front-end damage. It was last seen heading east on Central Expressway.

According to Deputy Chief Tim Johnson, the investigation into the accident is still going on, and investigators are looking at pieces of the car that were left at the scene.

The second accident occurred at 11:01 p.m. A man was struck by a car and died at Stanford Hospital at 2:30 a.m. on Oct. 12.

Lt. Marty Dale said DPS does not believe alcohol or excess speed was a factor in the fatal accident. The driver of the vehicle stopped immediately and stayed on the scene.

Anyone who witnessed the hit-and-run accident should call the Sunnyvale DPS at 408.730.7110. Anyone with information on the fatal accident should call lead investigator Tracy Hern at 408.730.7109.
