Risch was a councilman
who stood for principles
So Bob Weissman thinks Tim Risch was a worse choice than Tony Spitaleri? Risch was a considerate, intelligent and valued councilman who made tough decisions, stood up for his principles and what was best for everyone, not for himself, his ego or for special interests like so many sitting council members who can't think for themselves and are controlled by the Public Safety Officers Association. Risch represented all of Sunnyvale, not just the chosen few.
The only intelligent and independent thinkers on the council are Chris Moylan and Otto Lee, and they are not beholden to PSOA.
Spitaleri still is a firefighter union president in Palo Alto. How can a guy who has a vanity license plate that says "UNION" make an unbiased decision on PSOA's upcoming contract? The public safety budget is over $50 million.
Spitaleri and his public safety union connections spent almost $100,000 getting him elected. Too bad these unions didn't give that amount of money to those in need in our community instead of to an individual like Spitaleri, who has a questionable past.
Unlike Spitaleri, Risch owns his own home, pays his taxes on time, has never been sued or filed bankruptcy, and has never had any liens or judgments against him. (Just check the county's public records--I did).
Risch graduated with honors from top universities. How can Spitaleri, who has no college education and shows a long, reckless pattern in his personal finances, make intelligent decisions with your money?
Now, who do you think is the better choice?
