Public Safety
The following incidents were compiled from the log at the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety.

Residential burglary--Feb. 25, 11:29 p.m., 1600 block of Kennard Way. A man returned to his home and found his front door open. He immediately left and called the Department of Public Safety from his brother's house.

Trespassing--Feb. 25, 1:14 p.m., 700 block of San Jule Court. Someone broke into a vacant house and left some personal items behind. The owner of the house said it is the second time it has happened.

Theft--Feb. 24, 2:51 p.m., 600 block of Iris Avenue. A month after her purse was stolen from her unlocked vehicle, a woman reported the theft to the Department of Public Safety.

Residential burglary--Feb. 24, 12:05 p.m., 600 block of Old San Francisco Road. A woman knocked on the door of a house and after no one answered, the man she was with--who had a screwdriver--began trying to "jimmy" the door open.

Fraud--Feb. 24, 7:29 a.m., 250 block of Santa Fe Terraces. A 26-year-old man who was staying with a friend stole the friend's credit card and was using it.

Animal abuse--Feb. 23, 12:36 p.m., 800 block of Kifer Road. Five peacocks in a pen were found behind a business. They had no food or water. Animal rescue was called but said that they did not have the resources to respond.

Theft--Feb. 22, 4 p.m., 1300 block of Chesapeake Terraces. A woman set her purse down in the lobby of a hotel and then noticed that it was missing.
