By Mike Barnhart
When The King's Academy held its winter sports banquet on March 9, it was the girls soccer team that went home with the lion's share of the honors.

Senior halfback Claire Gill, the Most Valuable Player in the Private Schools Athletic League, was one of six Knights who earned all-PSAL first team recognition. The others were juniors Megan Ting, Faith Tucker and Kristen Hahn, sophomore Hannah Hays and freshman Tami Hays. Senior teammate Traci Hays, along with juniors Lauren Carr, Emily Henderson and Amanda Westwood, made the second team.

Senior Taylor Scott was an all-PSAL second-team selection for the girls basketball team. Two other seniors, Jessica Butelo and Lisa Walker, were honorable mention picks.

Junior Colin Foshay of the boys basketball team also was an All-PSAL honorable mention choice.

De Anza basketball

Three local boys basketball players have been named to the all-De Anza Division second team by division coaches. Homestead placed two players on the squad, 5-foot-8 senior guard David Ostrow and 6-foot-7 junior center Ryan Dedrick. Fremont junior Leo Janisse, a 6-foot-4 forward, was among five others named to the second team. Another Fremont junior, 5-foot-10 guard Jeremy Allen, earned honorable mention.
