Public Safety

The following incidents were compiled from the log at the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety.

Grand theft--May 20, 4:48 p.m., 700 block of S. Bernardo Avenue. A woman's boyfriend or ex-boyfriend broke into her car and stole her laptop computer and other items. She could not provide the exact address where it occurred. The gray Dodge Dakota was parked in an apartment complex parking lot.

Tampering with a vehicle--May 20, 2:49 p.m., 700 block of E. Evelyn Avenue. A man reported the rear license plate on his car had been stolen. He noticed it while at school in Oakland.

Vehicle theft--May 20, 9:57 p.m., 1200 block of Wildwood Avenue. A resident last saw his car more than two weeks ago before going on vacation. He found it missing when he returned. The vehicle had already been recovered, and towed by police officers out of San Francisco.

Theft--May 19, 7:57 p.m., 300 block of Orchard Avenue. A man's bedroom safe was broken into and $400 worth of items was stolen. He suspects his roommates.

Lost property--May 19, 6:09 p.m., 100 block of E. Fremont Avenue. A man said he left his phone--a Sidekick 2 worth over $300--at a restaurant while eating there and he could not find it after returning to the restaurant.

Fraud--May 19, 3:39 p.m., 800 block of Rubis Drive. A woman reported her CitiBank credit card had been used to purchase items on two separate occasions. She did not authorize either purchase. The bank is investigating.
