Public Safety

The following incidents were compiled from the log at the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety.

Suspicious circumstances--June 3, 10:30 p.m., 1300 block of Ramon Drive. Residents saw two men park their car in front of a vacant house and walk into the back yard.

Drunk in public--June 3, 1:37 a.m., 700 block of N. Mathilda Avenue. A woman in her 40s met with security guards and claimed someone had stolen something from her and that she had a bump on her head. Witnesses say she was incoherent.

Fraud--June 2, 7:37 p.m., W. California Avenue. A woman's purse was stolen from her parked car. In it was her Visa ATM card, $120 in cash, a checkbook and her Mexican ID card. There was no sign of forced entry on the car, and her card was later used to make fraudulent purchases at a department store.

Grand theft--June 2, 6:07 p.m., 600 block of W. Olive Avenue. A man's laptop computer was stolen while he was in the library.

Squatter on a scooter--June 2, 2:36 p.m., 800 block of San Aleso Avenue. Residents confronted a man who was "squatting" in their area, and he fled toward Mathilda Avenue and Highway 101 on a scooter.

Grand theft--June 2, 9:01 a.m., 1100 block of Tilton Drive. Ex-tenants of a building absconded with a pool table, lawn chairs and tools that belonged to the owner of the building.

Battery--June 1, 3:47 p.m., 1200 block of Sunnyvale-Saratoga Road. A student was "jumped" at school and had a cut above his eye. He declined medical attention.
