Danser continues tradition of all-star brothers

If Bellarmine's Tim Danser isn't quite sure what to expect when he plays in next week's Silicon Valley Youth Classic Charlie Wedemeyer High School All-Star Football Game, he can find out in advance--right at his kitchen table.

Danser needs to look no farther than his own Saratoga home to find out answers about the all-star competition. His older brother, Chris, took part in the game just a couple of years ago, representing Los Gatos High School.

The Danser boys are among the many brother combinations who have participated in the summer classic that returns for a 32nd season on July 19, 7:30 p.m., at San José City College. The game, sponsored by the Almaden Valley Rotary Club, has featured 25 sets of brothers through the years.

The game, called the "Best Game in Town," has featured such National Football League stars as former San Francisco 49er quarterback Jeff Garcia, Doug Cosbie of the Dallas Cowboys, Jeff Toews of the Miami Dolphins, John Tuggle and Erik Howard of the New York Giants, the late Pat Tillman of the Arizona Cardinals and more.

Local stars set to play in this year's edition of the all-star classic include defensive backs Juan Arce and Julius Mills and linebacker Mark Pariaszevski of Fremont; and running back Jay Atkins and linebacker Caleb Wilcox of Homestead.
