Public Safety

The following incidents were compiled from the log at the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety.

Threatening dog--July 8, 5:42 p.m., 200 block of Charles Street. A veterinarian from a pet store called the Department of Public Safety saying a dog was showing disturbing neurological symptoms and had bitten its owner. The animal may have been rabid.

Theft--July 8, 5:06 p.m., 200 block of W. California Avenue. A man said an unknown person stole his wallet and checkbook out of a car he had left unlocked. The theft occurred sometime in the early morning.

Tampering with a vehicle--July 7, 9:48 p.m., 1500 block of Tenaka Place. Both the front and rear license plates were stolen off a woman's car.

Vehicle theft--July 7, 7:49 p.m.,100 block of Pasito Terraces. A woman's truck was stolen after being parked in the parking lot of her apartment complex. She was away for two weeks, and when she returned, the truck was gone. She believes her son may be responsible.

Cat scratch fever--July 7, 7:18 a.m., 1000 block of Tasman Drive. A cat scratch report was sent to the Department of Public Safety from a hospital saying the victim had been scratched on the face by a cat, and the scratch broke skin.

Fraud--July 7, 12:04 p.m., 900 block of Hamlin Court. A now former employee from one company ordered items from a second company and quit as soon as the items were received.

Forgery--July 6, 2:02 p.m., 700 block of All America Way. A man's disability check--that had been sent to the wrong address--was cashed by an unknown person.
