Good weather here
suits outdoor mall

Bonnie Lloyd wrote that it is idiotic to think people would want an open-air mall (Sun July 26). I think it would be idiotic to build another soulless, climate-controlled shopping mall which, from the inside, makes Sunnyvale indistinguishable from Seattle, St. Louis or Scranton. Ms. Lloyd, we live in one of the most hospitable climates in the world, delightful the vast majority of the time for strolling, eating or savoring coffee al fresco, or enjoying outdoor concerts and farmers markets. If sunshine and fresh air are too unpredictable for you, head down the road a few miles to Vallco or Valley Fair. Rain or shine, I'll take the pleasures of a well-designed outdoor marketplace every time.
