Man used his car as a weapon, police say

By JASON GOLDMAN-HALL

Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety officers are still looking for a man in connection with a domestic dispute that resulted in his allegedly striking a woman with his car, causing traumatic head injuries.

At 12:30 p.m. on Aug. 11, Sunnyvale officers were in an apartment complex in the 700 block of S. Wolfe Road, responding to a call about a domestic disturbance. They say t the man and the woman--the victim--had both left the scene after the man struck her intentionally with his car, causing the injuries.

Officers later found both people at a house in the 1100 block of Miller Avenue in San Jose, and began negotiating with the man to get him to leave the house. The car used in the incident was also found at the residence.

The man refused to leave the house and ran to the back of the building. Eighteen Sunnyvale officers and five San Jose officers then surrounded the house. Eventually the woman came out to be treated for her injuries, and the man fled.

Officers tried to find him using a police dog to search nearby yards, but they were unsuccessful. The search was called off around 5:15 p.m., and officers are still looking for the man in question.

Anyone with information should call the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety at 408.730.7100.
