Public Safety

The following incidents were compiled from the log at the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety.

Request for assistance--Sept. 2, 6:33 p.m., 700 block of Sunnyvale-Saratoga Road. A man filled a shopping cart with bottles of water from outside a store and then brought them back in to return them as if he had bought them there.

Residential burglary--Sept. 2, 9:30 a.m., 700 block of Sheraton Drive. A man discovered his house had been burglarized while he was gone. He searched the house and did not find anyone, but did find a large boot print on his pillow.

Drunk in public--Sept. 1, 9:45 p.m., 100 block of Maude Avenue. An intoxicated man was walking all over the sidewalk, barely able to stand up. He was also seen bumping into cars and slurring his speech. He was headed toward Mathilda Avenue from Maude Avenue.

Theft--Sept. 1, 5:24 p.m., 1100 block of W. El Camino Real. A man said his gas card was stolen while he was at a gas station and later used six times in Mountain View to buy $280 worth of gas.

Found property--Sept. 1, 3:01 p.m., 700 block of All America Way. A woman turned in two starter's pistols and some caps to be destroyed. Her husband recently died, and she found them and wants them disposed of.

Theft--Sept. 1, 2:48 p.m., 500 block of E. El Camino Real. A woman's backpack was stolen after being left in the Dumpster area at a drug store on Aug. 30. Her Social Security card was inside the backpack.
