Public Safety

The following incidents were compiled from the log at the Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety.

Vehicle collision--Sept. 30, 3:43 p.m., California Avenue and Old San Francisco Road. A man rear-ended another car, and the driver of that car drove away from the scene without stopping.

Theft--Sept. 30, 2:34 p.m., 1100 block of Morse Avenue. A man's Sony Ericsson mobile phone was taken from his unlocked vehicle while the vehicle was parked in his driveway during the night.

Threats--Sept. 30, 2:16 p.m., 1000 block of Merrimac Drive. A man planning to act as a witness in an upcoming court case received a letter threatening him if he testifies.

Damage to property--Sept. 29, 7:12 a.m., 600 block of Begonia Way. A tree branch fell on a resident's car. The resident was not sure if the tree was city- or privately owned. The branch itself was 20 feet long and 10 inches thick.

Collision--Sept. 28, 6:05 p.m., W. Fremont Avenue. A vehicle ran into a large tree. No one in the vehicle appeared injured, but the tree was down, blocking part of the westbound side of Fremont Avenue.

Embezzlement--Sept. 28, 2:54 p.m., 900 block of Hamlin Court. A recently terminated employee refused to return $3,000 worth of company-owned property.
