Town Center Update

The Sun periodically provides updates on the $400 million Town Center redevelopment project headed by Sand Hill Property Co.

* The night work that forced closures on Washington Avenue is completed, and lanes are now open.

* Demolition work is continuing to remove old foundation concrete. Concrete from the old (shopping mall) structure and foundation is being ground up onsite and stockpiled near the site of the former J.C. Penney building. Once excavation is completed for the underground parking garages, the ground concrete will be recycled by distributing it as a base for the foundation of the garages.

* Workers are scheduled to start installing the reinforcing steel into the excavation for the underground garage on the west side of Target.

* The Planning Commission is scheduled to have reviewed the project's landscape design July 9.
