Town Center Update
By Cody Kraatz
he Sun periodically provides updates on the $400 million Town Center redevelopment project headed by Sand Hill Property Co.
* A new 24-hour hotline number has been established by the developer to handle inquiries and complaints about the project. By calling 408.554.2946, you will reach a service that will pass your comment or issue to the appropriate person on the development team.
* The city has scheduled a community update meeting to present the most current project information, including the latest site drawings for the development and the first look at the design of the new Target store. The 90-minute meeting on Aug. 9 will begin at 6 p.m. at the Senior Center, 550 E. Remington Drive. The meeting will feature formal presentations by staff and the developer. Following the meeting, there will be an opportunity for questions and answers. A major focus of the meeting is to inform members of neighborhood associations and the general public about redevelopment progress.
* Construction crews should start pouring concrete this week for the underground parking garage footings west of Target. More than 2,000 yards of concrete will be used.
Concrete rubble from the demolished mall building has been recycled on site and has been spread as a base on which to build the underground parking garage west of Macy's. Recycling the concrete eliminated an estimated 500 truckloads of base material that would have to have been brought into the site.
