Town Center Update

The Sun periodically provides updates on the $400 million Town Center redevelopment project headed by Sand Hill Property Co.

* Construction of the parking garages in the two westerly blocks of the development continues. The fourth-level concrete decks for each garage were completed last week. Stairways, and mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems are being installed on the interior of both garages.

* Relocation of utilities on Washington and Mathilda avenues was completed last week.

* Widening of the south side of Washington Avenue, east of Mathilda, is under way and will continue until June.

* Permits for the framing of residential units above retail along Washington, Taaffe and McKinely were issued last week. Work is scheduled to begin the first week of April.
