Fremont camp
Registration is being accepted for the 27th annual Fremont Basketball Camp, held at Fremont High School in Sunnyvale for boys and girls ages 6-15. The camp director is former Fremont High School basketball coach Phil Kelly, and assistant directors are former Homestead boys coach Jason Townsend and current Cupertino boys coach Craig Ellegood.
The camp, which emphasizes fun and fundamentals, is being offered during the weeks of June 16-20 and June 23-27, 9 a.m to 4 p.m. daily. Cost for a one-week session is $171.
There also will be mini-camps hosted at Fremont. Campers may attend three hours a day, either 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. or 1:30-4:30 p.m. The mini-camps, which cost $111 for a week session, are slated for July 7-11, July 14-18 and July 21-25. The final mini-camp is July 28-31, 9:30-1 p.m.

'Maids program
The Santa Clara Aquamaids, with more than 60 swimmers, have been the nation's top synchronized swim club and produced more than half of the U.S. Olympic synchronized swimmers since 1984. The swimmers come to the club from all over Santa Clara Valley as well as the rest of the United States and even around the world, with girls from Russia, the Netherlands, Peru, Switzerland, Aruba and Japan.
The coaches of the Aquamaids will lead fitness programs in a non-competitive environment for children ages 7-12 on Tuesdays and Thursdays April 1-24, 4 to 6 p.m., and then again May 6-29.

Sanchez Field
A ceremony will be held on April 12, 11 a.m., for the official dedication of Tony Sanchez Field at the Bob Fatjo Sports Center in Santa Clara's Central Park. The field will be named for the late Santa Clara Parks and Recreation official who died just months after his retirement from the department.
Sanchez was active throughout his career as an advocate for softball, from the youth through adults divisions.
Rotary golf
The 15th annual Cupertino Rotary Golf Classic, a benefit for Santa Clara Valley Medical Center's Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, will be held on May 3 at the Deep Cliff Golf Course in Cupertino. The tournament features a nine-hole scramble in the morning and an 18-hole best ball event in the afternoon. Following tournament play, a dinner and auction will begin.
The Rotary Club of Cupertino annually selects a beneficiary to receive a $25,000 award, the funds generated by the proceeds from the golf tournament.

Adult kickball
The World Adult Kickball Association is holding registration for the spring season for its coed adult kickball teams. Register at kickball.com through April 9.
A free pick-up game is scheduled on April 23, 6:30 p.m. at Serra Park in Sunnyvale for CA Solar (contact CASolar1@kickball.com), with league play to begin on April 30.
Giants open
The San Jose Giants, California League champions in 2007, will begin their season on April 3 in Bakersfield and will open their home season on April 10 against the Blaze.
