Charles Wullenjohn Sr.

Charles Wullenjohn Sr., a trained engineer who worked at Hiller Aircraft and retired from IBM, was known as a man who could fix anything.

He made major additions to his house, raised a large family, coached Little League, loved gardening and taught himself to play the piano.

A native of Arkansas, Mr. Wullenjohn, 85, died at his Sunnyvale home following a bout with cancer.

A native of Arkansas, he came to the South Bay in 1941 after joining the U.S. Army Air Corps. He was stationed at Moffett Field, one of several military installations where he served during World War II. Mr. Wullenjohn married Mary A. Gonsalves, from a longtime local family, in 1942. The couple raised six children--Carole Splan, Patricia Knapp, David, Charles Jr., William and Robert. Carole and David died previously.

Mr. Wullenjohn also leaves 16 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

 

Simone Marie Poff

A celebration of life ceremony has been held for Simone Marie Poff, who died April 16 at the age of 55.

Mrs. Poff loved to shop. "It was a sport to her,'' said her husband, Lawrence. The Poffs celebrated their 32nd wedding anniversary on April 10.

Mrs. Poff also enjoyed riding with her husband on their Harley motorcycle and traveling abroad. Her camera was always in action.

Besides her husband, Mrs. Poff is also survived by her son, Brian Pratt; daughter-in-law Tracy; two grandsons, Hayden and TJ; parents, Ante and Mary Soljanich; sister, Maggie; brother, Anthony, and many nieces, nephews and godchildren. Her two Shih Tzus, Rascal and Samson, were part of her immediate family.
