    Hot Stove Banquet

    Pat Burrell of the Philadelphia Phillies and Rick Helling of the Texas Rangers will be the featured guests when the 17th annual Hot Stove Banquet returns to the Santa Clara Valley on Feb. 6.

    John Shrader of KNBR-68 will serve as master of ceremonies for the Santa Clara County Baseball Fundraisers event that will begin with no-host cocktails at 6 p.m., dinner at 7 p.m. and the banquet to follow at the San Jose Elks Club.

    Bob Arum, chairman of the board for Top Rank Inc., will be the evening's special guest.

    Tickets are $35 per person and $350 for a table of 10 ($300 per table of 10 for youth, high school, community college and college baseball groups). For reservations, call 408.446.3443.

    Softball Signups

    The West Valley PAL Softball League will hold signups for the 2001 season on Jan. 10, 6:30-9 p.m., and Jan. 13, 9 a.m.-2 p.m., at Bagby Elementary School.

    The recreational fast-pitch softball league is open to girls ages 5-16, and new players must provide a birth certificate at the registration. The fee ranges from $40-55, depending on age.

    San Jose PAL

    The San Jose PAL Pony baseball program is holding signups for players ages 7-12 interested in participating in the 2001 season. Signups are held Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.-4 p.m., at PAL Stadium.

    Players must provide a birth certificate and the registration fee of $40 for players ages 7-8, $45 for players ages 9-10 or $50 for players ages 11-12.

    PAL Football

    The Willow Glen Rams will hold signups for the fall 2001 youth tackle football season beginning Jan. 15. Willow Glen fields four teams in PAL play. For more information, call Chris Rohr at 408.723.3307.

    Baseball Camps

    Baseball and softball camps for Little League through high school age players are currently being offered by Hardkte World of Baseball. The indoor clinics feature instruction for two days, two hours a day, and the cost is $90 per camp. For more information, call 408.866.8050 or check the website at www.hwob.com.
