Jazz Café set for Jan. 27
After discovering a lack of Jewish entertainment in the Bay Area, Jordan Safrus and Menachem Klein decided to begin what is now the Jazz Café.
Safrus and Klein began the evening of musical entertainment two years ago, and the event is now held twice a year at the Congregation Amechad Synagogue social hall, 1504 Meridian Ave.
Jazz Café is presented by the Eitz Chaim Academy, a Jewish day school in Los Gatos that provides a curriculum of general and Jewish studies from preschool through eighth grade. Chanie Lapin, principal of Eitz Chaim, said proceeds from the two-hour event benefit the school.
This season's Jazz Café will be held on Jan. 27, at 7:45 p.m. and will include music by Safrus of Jordan River Entertainment and Klein, a teacher at Eitz Chaim. Pianist Roosevelt Hoover will join them.
The program will also include a presentation by students from the school in memory of the founding Rabbi, Ah Lapin.
Cost for the event is $25 per person. Wine, coffee and desserts will be served. Call 408.402.0264.
