'Timeless Treasures' to come to St. Christopher's

    By Melissa Matchak

St. Christopher's Ladie's Guild stages its 31st Annual Antique Show and Sale on Feb. 2-4, as a fundraiser for the school, parish and outreach programs. The show, which will feature 23 antique dealers from throughout California, is one of two big events the Ladies' Guild holds during the year. Two-thirds of the funds raised throughout the year by the guild is donated to the school and parish.

This year's show, "Timeless Treasures," will have an Egyptian theme, and will showcase a mix of antiques, including furniture, jewelry, silver, crystal and more. The event will also include a flower shop and a boutique of handcrafted items made by women of St. Christopher's.

"Timeless Treasures" will also feature Nina's Nileside Café, which will be serving lunch and dinner on Friday and Saturday, and breakfast, lunch and dinner on Sunday. The menu for the weekend will be prepared by Chris Changras of A Catered Affair and Café chairwoman Nina Saglimbeni, who has been creating meals for the antique show for all of its 31 years. The menus will include the event's famous calamari, as well as steak sandwiches, pasta, chicken, homemade mud pie and other foods. There will also be a pantry selling home-baked items.

The Antique Show and Sale will be open on Feb. 2 and 3, from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Feb. 4, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Lunch will begin Friday and Saturday, at 11 a.m., dinner will begin at 5 p.m., and breakfast on Sunday will begin at 8:30 a.m. Pasta dinner on Sunday will be available from noon to 5 p.m. Admission is a $4 donation per person. The show at the school takes place in Healy Hall, at the corner of Booksin and Curtner avenues in San Jose. For more information, call Kerry McCarty at 408.265.6826.
