The Willow Glen ResidentAround The GlenPedestrian hit by auto in downtown crosswalk A 25-year-old female was struck down in the crosswalk at Lincoln and Meredith avenues on Jan. 22 at 9:01 p.m., according to San Jose Police Department spokesman Derek Edwards. The woman was hit by a man, 52, traveling northbound in a 1989 Acura. "The pedestrian had minor injuries and was transported to Valley Medical Center, via ambulance," Edwards said. Alcohol was not involved in the accident and the man was not charged with any crime. Pedestrian safety in downtown Willow Glen has become a repeated issue. On Nov. 17, residents convinced the City Council to grant the community a stop sign at the corner of Willow Street and Camino Ramon. Although no specific proposals have been put forward, residents have expressed concern over pedestrian safety on Lincoln Avenue as well. --By Cecily Barnes Champ to be honored at Mitty High dinner A Willow Glen man will be inducted into the Archbishop Mitty High School Athletic Hall of Fame at an awards dinner on Sat., Feb. 6.
