Three league champs
Willow Glen had three league champions among the school's four placers at the BVAL junior varsity league finals last weekend.
Sophomore Ricardo Hernandez had a big win over a talented Overfelt foe on his way to an individual championship at 142 pounds.
Eugene Martinez was first at 137 and D.J. Faraj-Perry was a champ at 191 pounds. Freshman Mike Estrella finished third at 121 pounds.
Hernadez wins title
A week earlier, Hernandez was an individual champ at 142 pounds at the Del Mar Frosh-Soph Tournament. Martinez was second at 137, D. Faraj-Perry was third at 191 and Estrella was fourth at 121.
Sixth at Overfelt
The Rams finished sixth in the 30-team field at the Overfelt Junior Varsity Invitational back on Jan. 18.
Three individual champs led the Willow Glen showing at the tourney. Hernandez (140), Blanda (145) and Grossman (152) each finished first for the Rams, with Martinez (135) second, Estrella (119) fourth and Robert Oropeza (160) sixth.
