Ex-mayors discuss history

History San Jose and Barnes and Noble Booksellers have formed a partnership to bring a new quarterly speaker series, "History Makers," to local residents. The programs will feature a panel of local speakers, moderated by History San Jose president and CEO David Crosson, who will address topics of regional interest.
Cecilia Clark, director of marketing for History San Jose, said the organization wanted to create a forum for public discussion on community issues, history and other topics of regional interest.
The third program in the series, "Past Forward: Former Mayors Discuss the Past, Present, and Future of San Jose," will be held on Feb. 8, at 7 p.m. at Barnes and Noble at the corner of Almaden Expressway and Blossom Hill Road.
Former San Jose Mayors Al Ruffo, Ron James, Janet Gray Hayes and Tom McEnery will provide diverse perspectives on historical political leadership and current affairs.
The event is free and open to the public. To reserve a seat or for more information, call 408.918.1052 or 408.979.0613.
The next program will be held on May 10, and will feature discussion about San Jose's two Chinatowns.
