    Special Olympics

    Special Olympics is currently making plans for its spring season of swimming, tennis and track and field. Coaches are needed for the program, and a volunteer orientation session will be held Feb. 13, 7 p.m., at the Special Olympics office, 5730 Chambertin Drive, San Jose.     San Jose PAL

    The San Jose PAL Pony baseball program is holding signups for players ages 7-12 interested in participating in the 2001 season. Signups are held Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.-4 p.m., and Feb. 17, 9 a.m.-6 p.m., at PAL Stadium.

    Players must provide a birth certificate and the registration fee of $50 for players ages 7-8, $55 for players ages 9-10 or $60 for players ages 11-12.

    Registration for Soccer

    South Bay Youth Soccer will hold registration on Feb. 10, 10 a.m.- 2 p.m., at the stadium snack bar at the Campbell Community Center for the following age groups for boys and girls: under-6, under-8, under-10, under-12 and under-14 (ages determined as of July 31, 2001).

    The season runs March through June, and the fee of $65 includes uniforms, a photo package and an end of the season award.

    All-comer Meets

    Los Gatos will host winter all-comer track and field meets Saturday through Feb. 24 at the high school track. The pole vault competition begins at noon with other field events at 12:30 p.m. and running events at 1 p.m. The cost is $3 for unlimited events and $2 for spectators.

    Volleyball Signups

    The United States Youth Volleyball League is accepting registration for its spring program in Los Gatos and San Jose through March 1.

    The coed league is open to players ages 8-14 and the fee of $90 per player includes instruction, games, uniform T-shirt and equipment. League play runs March 31-June 16.

    Teams will meet twice a week: on Tuesdays from 5:30-6:30 p.m. and on Saturdays from 9-10 a.m. at Camden Park West, and on Wednesdays from 5:30-6:30 p.m. and on Saturdays from 9-10 a.m. at Los Gatos High School.
