Guadalupe River Presentation
Terry Neudorf, environmental planner with the Guadalupe Watershed for the Santa Clara Valley Water District, will speak Feb. 13, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., at the Garden Center, located at 715 Spring St., in San Jose.
Neudorf's free presentation will be about the health of all rivers and the species that reside in them, which are dependent on the fitness of their surrounding habitat. The Guadalupe River is no exception. Filled with new and growing native vegetation and being used by various wildlife species, the river is returning to a more wild and natural state, with the help of a few friends.
The presentation will explore the river's habitat, linking the riparian habitat, native plant re-vegetation and the special-status species considered in the design of the river project. For more information, contact Kary Wilson at 408.298.7657 or via email at kary@grpg.org to R.S.V.P.

Silent Movie Night
A silent movie night will be held March 9 at 7 p.m., at the nonprofit Divine Science Community Center, 1540 Hicks Ave., in San Jose, to raise money for the center's music and organ funds.
The event will be similar to old classic movie presentations in the 1920s, with an organist making sounds and setting the mood as the picture rolls by. Featured will be The Three Musketeers, starring Douglas Fairbanks, based on the novel by Alexander Dumas; and Sherlock Junior, a short film starring Buster Keaton. Drinks and popcorn will be provided.
The movies will be shown on a movie screen, accompanied live by organist Gene Turner. Currently employed at the center, Turner is a professional organist and teacher. He has played many recitals and performed silent movie shows for many groups and clubs. He learned his technique while watching the famous theater organist Gaylord Carter and has a large repertoire of popular tunes and expert improvisational abilities. He also worked for Conn Organ Company for many years. Suggested donation is $6 at the door. Additional donations are welcome.
