Organizations release report on women issues
Community Foundation Silicon Valley and Women of Silicon Valley on Feb. 25 released a report identifying the challenges and goals of engaging more women in civic leadership.
The report, "Untapped Potential: Women's Civic Leadership in Silicon Valley" is a follow-up to last year's report, "Unfinished Business: Women in the Silicon Valley Economy." This year's report studied the history of female leaders in the area using interviews with 30 women leaders and other research.
It found that civic engagement would be strengthened for both women and men if it were easier to become involved in community activities; if leaders were actively identified in the business and professional community; if people were encouraged to volunteer; and if networks existed between generations, ethnicities, classes and sectors.
