Police cracking down on Blewitt speeders

I read with concern the comments about speeders on Blewitt Avenue. I share Vicki McGowan's worry about the use of Blewitt Avenue by those who refuse to recognize the 25-mph speed limit and that this is a residential street. I hope she has noticed the increased traffic and patrol enforcement in the past two weeks. If she feels her complaint was confused or not taken seriously by the San Jose Police Department, I encourage her to email me at thomas.wheatley@ci.sj.ca.us or call me at 408.277.4214. I would be more than glad to discuss with her efforts taken in the past to control traffic. More important, we are willing to work with her on plans to improve the situation.

As for the comments by P.J. LaRive, that traffic cops are hesitant to write speeding citations: A good portion of the other 900,000 residents of the city may be in disagreement. I also regret that politicians, law enforcement, civil engineers, department of streets and traffic, and anyone LaRive has spoken to over the past seven years have failed to please him. He lives in the safest large city in America. Why doesn't he give it another try and give me a call.

    The DeCinzo cartoon? Very funny.
