    Community group needs men's clothing

Sacred Heart Community Service, which provides services for the homeless and working-class poor, is looking for donations of men's clothing for its ongoing Clothes Closet program.

Clothing items for women and children are also being accepted, but the need for men's clothing is greater. At this time of year, Sacred Heart asks for donations of warm clothes, especially jackets or sweaters.

The clothing closet program has been around since the opening of Sacred Heart in 1964, and allows families to shop for free clothing twice a month in 10-minute increments, according to Mary Jane Kitkovich, coordinator for the Clothes Closet at Sacred Heart. Kitkovich said approximately 200 people visit the clothing closet daily, shopping for their families and themselves.

Sacred Heart is also in need of donations of blankets, towels and sheets throughout the year.

Donations may be left at Sacred Heart, 1381 S. First St., at Alma, San Jose, Monday through Saturday, between 9:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. For more information, call 408.283.5800.
