Letters Some big homes OK
It seems that the issue of big houses on small lots is one that everyone has an opinion about. You seem to be giving a lot of space to those who are critical of these homes. What I find offensive is that you are identifying some of these houses and thereby helping to embarrass the people, our neighbors, who live in them.
As a builder who has built four of the bigger homes on Lupton Ave., I think that the house on the corner of Minnesota and Cherry is also beautiful. The owner has put a lot of time and effort into the exterior of the house, and when one thinks of what he could have built, he has added something to that part of the neighborhood.
I agree that there must be more control over design and impact, but in the meantime please let us not be so personal in our criticism of other peoples' homes.
