Base Race: Willow Glen's Scott Wallberg races to third in an effort to avoid the tag in this rundown against Prospect. The Rams pulled out a 6-4 win over the Panthers last Friday.
Rams, Mustangs fight for first
Willow Glen wins two out of three

First place will be on the line when the Willow Glen baseball team visits Pioneer this week--largely because of what the Rams did last week in the Santa Teresa Division of the Blossom Valley Athletic League.
The Rams suffered a heartbreaking 2-1 loss to Piedmont Hills to open the week, dropping them a half game behind Pioneer in the pennant race in the division.
But Willow Glen fought back to blank Independence 5-0 and edge Prospect 6-4.
Pioneer, meanwhile, clubbed Prospect 16-9 and beat Mount Pleasant 8-2 before facing a Friday bye.
It all adds up to a battle for first this week when the Rams visit the Mustangs on March 28, 3:30 p.m.
In play last week, Josh Weaver and Daniel Rice each singled and doubled and Nathan McDonald had two hits to lead the Rams to the win over Prospect. McDonald was the winning pitcher, and Matt Durkin came on to pick up the save.
Bobby Hobbs doubled in the Willow Glen win and Luis Pacheco clubbed a triple.
Hobbs tossed a three-hit shutout, striking out 12 along the way, to lead the Rams to the 5-0 win over the 76ers. Hobbs pushed his mound record to 3-0 with the win.
Mike DeBono doubled twice and singled to lead the 11-hit attack for the Rams. Pete Watts singled and doubled and Alvin Rideau had two hits to drive in two runs. Rice and Weaver also had two hits apiece.
Willow Glen was stung 2-1 by third-place Piedmont Hills to open the week. Watts had two of the Rams' three hits in the game, and Durkin was tagged with a tough loss.
The Rams, 5-1 in the division and 7-4 for the year, were to meet Mount Pleasant on Monday before visiting Pioneer on Wednesday and hosting Silver Creek on March 30, 3:30 p.m.
