    Center hosts breast cancer workshop

    The Billy DeFrank Lesbian and Gay Community Center will host a breast cancer workshop on April 4, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the center, 938 The Alameda, San Jose. The workshop will feature information about current trends in breast cancer prevention, diagnosis and treatment. Dessert will be served. Call 408.293.3040, ext. 116, for more information.

    Willow Glen Elementary Walk-A-Thon planned

    Willow Glen Elementary School will hold its second annual Walk-A-Thon and Silent Auction on April 7, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the school's back field area. This year's walk-a-thon will be called 2001: A Space Odyssey. The event will also include food, music, dancing, face painting and a silent auction, featuring a large assortment of gift baskets, arts and crafts, sports collectibles and various other themed baskets, that will help the school raise funds for various programs.     Acoustic Music at the Espresso Garden Café

    Award-winning songwriters Jamie Anderson and Susanne Mulcahy will present an evening of original acoustic music on March 28, at 7:30 p.m. at the Espresso Garden Café, 814 S. Bascom Ave., San Jose. Tickets for the performance are $7 at the door. For more information, call 408.298.0808.

    Willow Glen Library Book and Bake Sale

    The Friends of the Willow Glen Library will host a used book and bake sale on March 31, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the library, 1157 Minnesota Ave. All proceeds benefit the Willow Glen Branch Library. For more information, call 408.998.2053.
