    Rams split

    The Willow Glen boys tennis team split a pair of matches last week, beating Andrew Hill 5-2 after losing to unbeaten Valley Christian 5-2.

    Senior Jose Ocampo nailed a 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 1 singles to lead the Rams to the win over the Falcons. The win left Willow Glen 7-2 in the Santa Teresa Division of the Blossom Valley Athletic League and 10-2 for the year.

    Soccer Clinic

    The Southwest YMCA will host a five-day soccer clinic for players and coaches in April, presented by professional players from the United Kingdom.

    The clinic, directed by Britannia Soccer, begins April 9, and there are half- and full-day classes for both beginners and advanced players.

    Britannia Soccer is commited to advancing the sport in the United States and emphasizes the importance of moral and social values, promotes important topics such as school attendance, improving grades, honor systems and responsibility away from the field of play, says Missy Tabler, Southwest YMCA program director.

    Freestyle wrestling at Willow Glen

    Willow Glen will begin a freestyle wrestling program for those ages 6-18 interested in learning how to wrestle. The group meets Mondays and Wednesdays, 5-6:30 p.m., in the small gym at Willow Glen. For more information, call Willow Glen wrestling coach Phil Luna at 408.629.6881.

    'Will to Win' Scholarships

    High school scholar-athletes who have competed despite facing the challenge of asthma are eligible for scholarships through the "Will to Win" scholarship program.

    The program, in its 17th year, grants $35,000 in scholarships to 10 high school seniors, with the grand prize winner claiming a $10,000 award.

    Scholarship applications are available by calling the "Will to Win" hotline at 1.800.558.7305. The deadline for entries is April 30.

    PAL Football for Fall 2001 Season

    The Willow Glen Rams is currently holding signups for the fall 2001 youth tackle football season beginning. Willow Glen fields four teams in PAL play. For more information, call Chris Rohr at 408.723.3307.
