Willow Glen youth receives award
The Hispanic Heritage Awards Foundation will honor Willow Glen resident Carlos Hurtado as one of the nation's top-performing Hispanic high school seniors in an April 10 ceremony.
Hurtado, a senior at Lincoln High School, is among six recipients from the San Jose area who will compete nationally for a $5,000 educational grant, a laptop computer and an appearance on an NBC television special. Hurtado is receiving the award, sponsored by the foundation, for sports.

Willow Glen High's tech center opens
Willow Glen High School and the YMCA will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony of their new joint homework and technology center April 11 from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the school's media center, 2001 Cottle Ave.

San Jose is planning its Children's Faire
San Jose's Office on Child Care will hold the 14th annual San Jose Children's Faire, "Take Time to Feel Fine!", April 13 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Discovery Meadow, corner of W. San Carlos Street and Woz Way.
More than 60 children's activity booths sponsored by local childcare and other organizations, all focusing on the health of the whole child, from dental care to the importance of play. Onstage performances will be provided by the Kaiser Permanente Educational Theatre Program and others.
Children ages 2-12 will be entertained by the Sharks fire engine, the public library Info-Bus, the park rangers Fishing in the City program, three fun-jumps, a gymnastics demonstration and free giveaways.
