Lincoln Glen Park to open in two weeks

A new Willow Glen park accessible to children of all abilities is nearly finished but a few safety measures must be completed before it will open to the public.

"There are a couple of things we still need to wrap up," San Jose City Parks Manager Steve Roemer said of Lincoln Glen Park, located on Curtner Avenue near Lincoln Avenue and adjacent to the Willows Senior Center.

Roemer said the park will open in about two weeks.

Most of the construction by contractor Robert A. Bothman Inc. was completed earlier this year. Then, city officials did a playground safety audit of the site and facilities, as they always do, and found a few things not quite up to standard. One example was a ramp on the youth lot that needs side barriers.

"A few of us might have missed things like that," he said. "That's why we do these final safety audits."

In addition, the contractor is also awaiting the arrival of tiles for seat walls, but delays like that are out of Bothman's control, Roemer said.
