    Compaq run

    More than 3,000 runners are expected to compete in the 18th annual Compaq Up & Running 10K race April 21, 9 a.m., at Compaq's Silicon Valley headquarters, 19333 Vallco Parkway in Cupertino.

    The run is a benefit for the Second Harvest Food Bank, and last year Compaq raised more than $50,000 when over 2,500 runners competed in the event.

    Race-day registration begins at 7 a.m. and warm-ups at 8:45 a.m. Along with the 10K, there is a 2-mile run/walk for adults, a 1-mile run for children ages 6-12 and a Trike & Trot for children 6 and under.

    Cindergals reunion

    The San Jose Cindergals, a top-flight age group track and field club coached by Augie Argabright 1968-85, will hold a reunion on June 16 at Vasona Park in Los Gatos.

    Argabright, currently the cross country coach at San Jose State University, turned out 47 national age-group champions in his 18 years as the coach of the Cindergals. Two members of the squad, Francie Larrieu and Cindy Poor, went on to compete for U.S. Olympic teams.

    Diabetes golf

    The 10th annual Diabetes Society of Santa Clara Valley Golf Classic will be played on June 4 at the Cinnabar Hills Golf Club in San Jose.

    The scramble tournament will begin at noon, following registration and a special clinic offered by Cinnabar pros. A silent auction, reception and awards dinner will follow the tournament. Lunch will also be provided. Entry fee is $225. For more information, call 408.287.3785, ext. 124.


    Soccer camp

    Jorge Espinoza, formerly of the San Jose Clash and the New England Revolution, is in the area to host a series of spring soccer camps for youth soccer players ages 6-16.

    The final camp is slated for April 22-26 at the Campbell Community Center field. Sessions will be held 9-11:30 a.m. and 1-3:30 p.m. The cost is $100 per player.
