'Lincoln Center' medical facility opens on Avenue

Willow Glen residents now have a shiny new 34,272-square-foot place to go for medical treatment--the newest facility of the San Jose Medical Group/Good Samaritan Medical Group. The building, dubbed "Lincoln Center" by employees, opened April 1 at 625 Lincoln Ave. just north of Willow Glen, next to the group's administrative headquarters, which has been on Lincoln since 1955, said Mary Jo Chadey, the group's corporate relations manager.

Nineteen health-care providers (doctors, nurses, and nurse-practitioners) and 40 medical staff members moved to the new building from the former downtown clinic, which was located on S. 17th Street, Chadey said. The old building just was not keeping up with the times, she said.

The new clinic offers primary, specialist and pediatrics care and X-ray facilities. It's one of 13 clinics in the medical group, which are spread throughout Santa Clara County, Chadey said.

The clinic's interior design theme includes acrylic and watercolor paintings and collages, all with the theme of "The Art of Healing."

"The art in the building is all [by] local artists, and there are a lot of originals," Chadey said.

An open house for the new building will be held Thursday, April 30, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. San Jose Mayor Susan Hammer and several medical group officials will speak, and there will be a jazz band, food and wine.
