The Willow Glen ResidentWillow Glen High parent club plans for fundraiserBy Aji Mathai So that it can keep awarding scholarships, conducting field trips and purchasing equipment and supplies, the Willow Glen Rams' Parent Club at Willow Glen High School is holding its 11th annual fundraiser May 9. And club members are asking the public's help in giving to a worthy cause--students. The parent club is seeking donations to help out with its "Spring Gala" dinner dance and silent auction/raffle, which will be held from 6:30 p.m. to midnight at Presentation High School at 2281 Plummer Ave. Cash donations, gift certificates, discounts on services, gift baskets and sports, golf, photo, electronic and camping equipment will all be accepted, along with any other gifts or contributions. The dinner will be catered by Divine Catering and will cost $35 per person. The parent club awards high school seniors with scholarships from $200 to $500 and provides teachers with supplies that the San Jose Unified School District can't, said Diane Magnani, the club's donations chairperson. "It's important to keep the community spirit alive and support our local high school," she said. "These kids are going to be the future leaders of the community." The Spring Gala will be held in the Presentation High School cafeteria. To make reservations, call Karla Fukushima at 267-6705 or 570-4703. Tickets may be purchased at the door. For more information or to make a donation, call Magnani at 266-2678.
