WG Farmers' Market back for fifth season

The fifth season of the Willow Glen Farmers' Market begins on May 5, at 9 a.m. on the grounds of Willow Glen Elementary School at the corner of Lincoln and Minnesota avenues in downtown Willow Glen.

Opening day will feature a wide variety of fresh fruits and vegetables, music, balloons for children, face painting, Master Gardeners to answer questions about spring planting and pottery from Poland.

The farmers' market is a community-supported event with the purpose of bringing local farmers together each Saturday morning from May through October, to sell a variety of fresh, seasonal fruits and vegetables. The market also offers an assortment of baked goods, fish, fresh cut flowers, ethnic foods, garden herbs, homemade soups and lotions and an expert garden tool and knife sharpener.

The market also offers monthly workshops, including composting classes, plant growing and care and local chefs preparing special dishes. South Bay Farmers' Markets has operated certified farmers' markets in the South Bay for more than nine years. Currently the organization manages the Willow Glen Farmers' Market on Saturdays during the peak season and the Los Gatos Market on Sunday mornings all year. For more information, call 408.353.4293.
