    Footbag Festival

    The 14th annual Western Regional Footbag Championships for Cystic Fibrosis will be held May 29-31 at Stanford University. More than 150 competitors are expected, and new players are welcome. For more information, call (650)366-5554 or check the Web site at www.footbag.org/events.

    Basketball Camp

    Basketball Basics, a fundamentals basketball camp for boys and girls in grades 5-8, will be held at Westmont High School this summer under the direction of girls' basketball coach Jerry Pettit.

    Camps are scheduled for June 28-July 9 for boys and July 12-23 for girls. Camp hours are 8 a.m.-noon for players in grades 5-6, and 1-5 p.m. for players in grades 7-8. The cost is $165.

    Roller Hockey

    Roller hockey league registration is under way for youngsters in the 8-and-under, 10-and-under and 14-and-under divisions and for juniors in the 18-and-under division at the in-line sports hockey center.

    There are also adult beginner and intermediate leagues and women's league competition.

    Football Signups

    It's time to start thinking about the upcoming fall football season, and youngsters living in the Willow Glen area can sign up as either football players or cheerleaders. For more information, call 723-3307.

    Wedemeyer Gala

    The first annual Charlie Wedemeyer Celebration Gala, honoring outstanding Bay Area high school seniors, will be held May 20, 6 p.m., in the Imperial Ballroom at the Fairmont Hotel.

    Special guests for the evening event include Peggy Fleming, Jan Hutchins, Michael Nouri and John Ralston.

    Scholarships of $1,000 each will be presented to college-bound athletes who have overcome adversity or challenge and who have demonstrated a positive attitude in helping others.
