Local farmers' market to host 'Garden Day'
What better venue to learn some gardening tips than from some experts at the Willow Glen Farmers' Market? The second annual "Garden Day" is being held May 18 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the market, which is located at Willow Glen Elementary School, 1425 Lincoln Ave.
Gardening enthusiasts will have the opportunity to learn how to choose, plant, care for and prune a variety of plants that will work best in their garden. There will be a special demonstration, from 8:30 to 9 a.m., on how to sharpen garden tools at home. Gardeners will also get the dirt on soil preparation and fertilizers and how to treat garden pests safely and efficiently.
In between viewing demonstrations and displays, attendees can shop for seasonal fruits and vegetables from local farmers, as well as fresh fish, breads, pastas, cut flowers and more.
The market is open every Saturday from April through November. For more information about Garden Day or the farmers' market call 408.353.4293.
