    All-star Football

    Football's finest high school seniors will be back on the field this summer when the 27th annual Silicon Valley Youth Classic Charlie Wedemeyer High School All-Star Football Game returns to the Santa Clara Valley.

    The tradition will continue when the game, hosted by the Rotary Club of Almaden Valley, is played on July 25, 7:30 p.m., but the location will be brand new. For the first time, the game will be played at the Independence High School stadium in east San Jose.

    Rams fall

    The Willow Glen boys volleyball team saw its season come to an abrupt halt with a tough 16-14, 15-13, 15-12 loss to Saratoga in the first round of the Central Coast Section playoffs.

    The Rams ended up 13-20 overall for the year, but were outstanding during play in the Mt. Hamilton Division of the Blossom Valley Athletic League.

    Adult Leagues

    San Jose is currently holding registration for adult softball and basketball and is hosting drop-in a volleyball league at the Camden Community Center.

    The city offers softball leagues Monday through Friday for players ages 18 and over. The fees run from $485 to $545 per team.

    Basketball leagues are conducted Monday through Thursday, 7-9 p.m.

    The fees run from $375 to $480 per team.

    Drop-in volleyball leagues for ages 15-17 and adults are held Mondays, 7-10 p.m., at the Camden Community Center. The cost is $1 for youths and $3 for adults.

    Field Hockey

    Eighth grade girls who plan to attend Willow Glen in the fall and play on the field hockey team should contact head coach Peggy Booth for signup information.

    Booth also has details on summer camps, summer workouts and other important dates.

    Freestyle Program

    Willow Glen will begin a freestyle wrestling program for those ages 6-18 interested in learning how to wrestle. The group meets Mondays and Wednesdays, 5-6:30 p.m., in the small gym at Willow Glen. Call Willow Glen wrestling coach Phil Luna at 408.629.6881.
