Willow Glen PAL Football Signups
Willow Glen PAL, a youth tackle football group affiliated with the Police Athletic League, is holding signups for players and cheerleaders for the 2000 season.

Wedemeyer Scholarships
The second annual Charlie Wedemeyer Scholarship Awards Dinner will be held on May 17, 6 p.m., at the Fairmont Hotel in San Jose, and six deserving athletes will receive $5,000 scholarships. All of the winning athletes have overcome some sort of adversity, and all have given to their communities.
Local sports celebrities expected for the awards ceremony include Ronnie Lott, Brent Jones, Peggy Fleming and Chuck Muncie. All money raised from the dinner will support Charlie Wedemeyer Family Outreach, which reaches out to individuals and families coping with ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease).

Special Olympics
More than 400 athletes are expected to participate in the annual Special Olympics track and field meet to be held May 20 at Independence High School in San Jose. For information, check their website at www.sonc.org/sccso and click on track and field, or call 408.267.2734.
Water Polo Club
The Willow Glen Water Polo Club is expanding. The summer program is open to boys and girls ages 10-18, and practice will begin the week of May 22. The different divisions will hold practice sessions at different times, with most practices in the afternoons and evenings.
Willow Glen coach Scott Kaubish hopes to end the summer program with a trip to the Junior Olympics in Orange County in August.

Baseball Tryouts
The San Jose Cobras Youth Baseball Club, a traveling team for players ages 12-and-under, is holding tryouts for the spring and summer seasons. Players must have all-star or tournament experience. For more information, call Brent Hatfield at 408.978.8183.
