Speak Out
Write letters to stop war
He is a liar, a cheat, an adulterer and now a dictator. Yes, that describes the man who now runs our country, William Jefferson Clinton. You say: God instructs us to pray for all in authority, but you should also take action against evil.
Congressman Tom Campbell stated months ago this war in Kosovo is illegal, against our Constitution, yet he was criticized. Now Sen. Dianne Feinstein stated--stop this war. Bet she wishes she had voted to impeach the president. Don't be lazy.
Write a letter to these folks. Be supportive to their effort to stop this massacre. Write to our president. You say, oh what's one letter? Well, one letter and tell a friend equals millions.

Carl's columns are a pleasure to read
I just wanted to let you know how much I enjoy reading Carl Heintze's columns. The one about paper airplanes was great!
It is really a pleasure to read some "good old-fashioned" columns that are reminiscent of some of the "older generation" writers--no big political or social-issue axes to grind--just good writing.
Keep up the good work!

Cartoons reflect freedom of speech
In my view, Mr. DeCinzo executes satirical political humor in his cartoons and when this is done well, it will draw ire.
Many people will be offended from time to time by Mr. DeCinzo's sarcasm, and likewise many people will enjoy it. Being the butt of his cartoons, or even letters to the editor, is part and parcel of public life and politics. I'm sure DeCinzo's targets can decipher genuine ridicule and satirical humor. Also, one doesn't rise to a prestigious position without experiencing criticism from every direction.
You ask what the newspaper's responsibility is--I think it's probably "freedom of speech." You think Mr. DeCinzo should be censored so as not to offend some of us. I think not! What provokes you may not necessarily even faze many others.
A newspaper's editor cannot take it upon himself to make that distinction and deprive some of us the sheer enjoyment of Mr. DeCinzo's cartoons!
